The Location Behind the Acropolis
Long before the Acropolis became a symbol of classical Athens, it was something much more fundamental: a strategic choice in space. Early human societies did not build cities randomly. As communities shifted from movement to permanent settlement, they began to select locations that offered clear advantagesāprotection, visibility, and control.
